Sending Cryptocurrency to a Recipient via a Relay Transaction
When you want to send cryptocurrency to a specific recipient, a "relay transaction" refers to the process of sending the cryptocurrency not only to that recipient but to all users, so that it reaches the intended recipient through a series of transfers, much like a bucket relay. The
reason for doing this is due to technical limitations of the network.
In networks that use Peer-to-Peer (P2P) technology, the system cannot send assets directly to the recipient, and it may not know which route to take.
Therefore, by sending the assets to all users, the system guides users to pass them along one after another in a bucket-relay fashion, ultimately reaching the intended recipient and completing the transaction. When it comes
to executing cryptocurrency transactions, some require relay transactions, while others require the mediation of a central server.
Systems using Peer-to-Peer technology operate without a central server; instead, they rely on individual devices (Peers) trusting one another to conduct transactions. While
relay transactions may seem cumbersome because data is passed along like a bucket brigade, they offer the advantage that even if data is interrupted at a single point, the entire service does not shut down. Additionally, the
absence of a server eliminates the need for an administrator.
