Finding a Nonce to Earn Block Generation Rewards

A nonce is a random, one-time-use number used in the validation process when transaction data is sent to a recipient’s address for Bitcoin transfers or payments.

Bitcoin operates on a system where transaction data—specifying the recipient’s Bitcoin address and the amount—is broadcast over the network. This data is then added to a new block in the blockchain, which records all transactions, and is ultimately delivered to the recipient.

The people generating these new blocks are called miners. Since the first person to successfully complete the calculations required to generate a block receives Bitcoin as a reward, they use high-performance computers to perform mining.

The 32-bit number generated by the miner who solves the problem when a block is created is called a "nonce.
" In other words, Bitcoin mining is the process of finding a nonce that meets the specified conditions, and organizations around the world are mobilizing their high-speed computers to carry out this search.

Since blocks are generally generated at a rate of one every 10 minutes, the system is designed such that as the speed of finding the Nonce increases through high-speed computing, the difficulty of finding it also increases.
